Remembering late Justice Sandra Day O’Connor
POSTED DECEMBER 4, 2023
USLAW NETWORK mourns the death of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the first female Supreme Court Justice of the United States. After graduating from Stanford, she initially only received an offer to become a legal secretary. She rejected the offer, persevered, and eventually presided in the United States Supreme Court with honor and distinction. We offer our condolences to her family.
Amanda Ketchum, immediate past USLAW Chair from Dysart Taylor McMonigle Brumitt & Wilcox, P.C. in Kansas City, Missouri, shared her reflections on the impact O’Connor had on her: As a young girl, I used to tell people that I wanted to serve on the Supreme Court, and that was because of what Sandra Day O’Connor had achieved. She broke a barrier that allowed a generation of women to dream even bigger. We are grateful for her leadership and inspiration.
