Chris Martin named USLAW NETWORK Champions Award recipient

POSTED OCTOBER 2, 2024

USLAW NETWORK names Chris Martin, divisional vice president, innovation and special projects at Great American Custom Insurance Services, Inc. (GACIS) as the 2024 USLAW NETWORK Champions Award. The award annually recognizes an individual/organization who has shown outstanding service and dedication to the philanthropic efforts of the USLAW NETWORK Foundation.

“Chris (Martin) has been instrumental in the development and growth of the USLAW NETWORK Foundation first by serving on USLAW’s Diversity Advisory Committee and now as a board member of the Foundation,” said Oscar J. Cabanas, immediate past USLAW Chair from Wicker Smith in Miami. As a graduate of Howard University Law School, Chris opened the doors to USLAW’s first in-person job fair at Howard, which has led to a national USLAW virtual job fair that has presented more than 1,000 diverse law school students from more than 100 schools an opportunity to be hired by USLAW member firms.”

The Champions Award is presented to deserving recipients who have contributed their time, resources, and efforts to further the mission of the USLAW NETWORK Foundation and towards the betterment of the legal field. Recipients embrace the spirit of giving and have made a meaningful difference in the lives of those around them.

“To be the recipient of the 2024 USLAW Champions Award leaves me with a profound sense of gratitude, humility and motivation,” said Martin. “I share this award with many others, as it recognizes the cumulative efforts and dedication of the Diversity Council, the Foundation Board and the USLAW NETWORK as a whole. The Champions Award is also the result of direct and intentional support by USLAW firms, its corporate/client partners and many more individuals. This effort shows the ongoing appreciation and necessity to cast a wide net for talent that reflects both the high level of service provided by USLAW firms and a diverse client base for which they serve.

“At its core, the mission of The USLAW NETWORK Foundation is to address the business value and need for diversity in thought, perspective, ideas, and approach,” shared Martin. “Although physical awards can be held in hand, for only moments in time, I am privileged to watch as scholarship recipients and virtual career fair participants stand before the USLAW NETWORK with an opportunity to begin their career in the field of law. That privilege is an intangible award that will live close to my heart and in perpetuity.”

The 2024 award was presented to Martin during last week’s Fall 2024 USLAW NETWORK Client Conference.
