Richard M. Carter is a Director in the Memphis-based firm of Martin, Tate, Morrow & Marston, P.C. He is a Certified Civil Trial Advocate with extensive experience in patent, trademark, copyright and commercial litigation. He represents both small and large businesses in litigation and at trial. He has spoken extensively on intellectual property and trial practice subjects. He serves as the Chairman of Martin, Tate, Morrow & Marston's Litigation Group. Mr. Carter received his B.S. degree in 1973 from the United States Military Academy and his J.D. degree in 1980 from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the Law Review. Before joining Martin Tate, he served in the U.S. Army JAG Corps. Since joining Martin Tate in 1984, he has handled many intellectual property cases, including patent trials in the Western District of Tennessee.
