Richard Chavez is the Managing Partner and a founder of the firm Coleman Chavez & Associates, LLP, which was established in 2008.
Mr. Chavez specializes in Workers’ Compensation Defense litigation in California. With more than twenty years of experience, Mr. Chavez exclusively oversees all aspects of a litigated case from beginning to end. He, along with his firm, excels in reducing costs, resolving cases at the beginning stages of litigation, in addition to prevailing at the trial level. Mr. Chavez also oversees civil claims, including defense of discrimination claims under LC 132a and Serious and Willful Misconduct claims under LC 4553. Additionally, Mr. Chavez is a sought-after speaker providing seminars and training for employers and other claims professionals.
With a strong dedication to delivering quality service for every client of CCA, and as the managing partner, Mr. Chavez is laser focused on ensuring all CCA attorneys’ work product is top notch, meeting CCA’s highest standards. Mr. Chavez focuses on each client’s specific needs, including claim closure, responsiveness, and cost reduction versus litigation and discovery costs.
Mr. Chavez is licensed to practice law in the State of California and is a member of the California State Bar. He is also active in USLAW, National RIMS, National Retail & Restaurant Defense Association, Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, SHRM, Executives in Workers Compensation, California Self-Insurer’s Association, California Coalition in Workers Compensation and National Workers Compensation and Disability Conference.
Mr. Chavez grew up in Laguna Beach, California. He attended Sonoma State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science; and he attend the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1999.
When away from managing CCA, Mr. Chavez enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, as well as traveling, golfing, and cooking.
