John Cromie concentrates his practice and has over 25 years' experience primarily in the areas of real estate, corporate/business law, mergers and acquisitions, and banking law. As the chair of Connell Foley LLP's Corporate & Business Law practice group, John counsels clients ranging from Fortune 500 public companies to privately owned mid-cap enterprises and start-up ventures. He is outside general counsel to numerous companies in a variety of industries, including real estate, construction, manufacturing, specialty chemical and medical. He has extensive experience in the area of mergers and acquisitions, as well as in the purchase, sale, leasing and development of commercial real estate. In addition, John has significant experience representing lenders and documenting asset-based and real estate-based commercial loans and credit facilities. Prior to joining Connell Foley as an associate in 1988, John completed a one-year clerkship with the Honorable Daniel J. O'Hern, Associate Justice, Supreme Court of New Jersey (1987-1988). He served three terms as an elected official while serving as a Borough Councilman in Allendale, Bergen County, New Jersey. He has spent his entire professional career with Connell Foley and was elected to the partnership of the firm in January 1996. John currently serves as a member of Connell Foley's Executive Committee, and is on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of USLAW NETWORK, Inc. He served several years as the client liaison director for USLAW, and in June of 2017, he was elected vice chair of the organization. John became Chair of USLAW NETWORK in September 2017 (through September 2018).
