Lea Richmond, IV is a shareholder in Carr Allison's Birmingham (AL) office. His trial practice involves the defense of health care and medical malpractice litigation and transportation liability and products liability transportation liability litigation, products liability litigation.
Lea’s professional liability practice is varied and complex as he
defends hospitals, nursing homes, physicians and ambulance
companies in medical malpractice matters. This defense includes the
representation of individual physicians, skilled nursing facilities, longterm acute care hospitals, physical therapists and emergency medical
services personnel, such as paramedics and EMTs.
In 2014, Lea received an exclusive honor when he was appointed by the Alabama Supreme Court to serve a three-year term on the Alabama Pattern Jury Instructions Committee – Civil. This committee is charged with drafting the language of the pattern jury instructions that are used across the state of Alabama in all state courts. In recognition of his legal skills, he was named to Alabama Super Lawyers® Rising Stars and Mid-South Super Lawyers.
Lea presented at the DRI Trucking Seminar in Phoenix, Arizona in April of 2008. His presentation was titled: Decoding the Documents – Understanding the Documents that Motor Carriers Must Maintain under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. He has also published several articles, including: “Stuck in the Middle with You: Guidance from the Rules of Professional Conduct Regarding Simultaneous Representation of Parties Whose Interest in Litigation May Conflict”, (2007) and “Sisters of the Visitation v. Cochran Plastering Co.: Earnest Federalism or Reconstructive Defiance to the Federal Arbitration Act”, 25:3 American Journal of Trial Advocacy 63 (2002).
