Karen Verkerk is a partner in the firm of Dirkzwager N.V. in the Netherlands and the current president of TELFA. She is a civil law notary in the corporate practice, and she specialises in corporate law, mergers & acquisitions and restructurings. She advices a large number of large and mid-size companies and non-profit organizations on their (corporate) structure and governance issues. She is a member of the Combined Committee on Corporate Law, which advises various ministries and parliament on draft legislation on behalf of the Royal Dutch Notarial Association (KNB) and the Dutch Bar Association. Karen earned her law degree at the Radboud University in Nijmegen (the Netherlands) in 1987 (Dutch Law), 1989 (Notarial Law) and 1995 (Grotius Academy: postgraduate corporate law). She is a mediator and has completed the supervisory board course at Business University Nyenrode (2016). Karen has been managing partner and chair of the board of Dirkzwager for almost seven years. In that respect she has taken part in the Strategic Leadership for Women programme of business school IMD in Lausanne (2008). Karen is married, has two daughters, and is a ballet lover.
